Bing Black

Almost 2 years ago I reviewed an energy drink called Bing.  It was at the time and still is one of the best cherry flavored energy drinks I have ever tried.  Recently I saw Bing had a new flavor coming out so I contacted them to see if I could acquire some for review.  Luckily for me, Bing was very happy to have someone try out the newest addition to the Bing family and sent me some samples to try out.

The Look: The look of Bing Black is very similar to the original Bing.  The colors have been inverted so the can is primarily black with red and gold lettering.  For me this color scheme works very well and is very pleasant to the eye. On the back of can you will find the supplement facts and warning label (with the caffeine content clearly listed).

Taste: Bing set the bar high with their original drink so I had very high hopes for Bing Black.  I have never had a blackberry flavored energy drink that I can remember so I was not sure what to expect.  When I took the first sip I was greeted with the taste of actual blackberries (guessing this is due to the 5% juice that is added)  and a good amount of carbonation.  Just like the original Bing, Bing Black scores very well in the taste department.
(8.5 out of 10)

Does It Work:  Each can of Bing Black is powered by 122 mg of caffeine, 8 grams of sugar, vitamin C, several B vitamins, ginkgo biloba, ginseng root extract, beta-glucan, guarana seed extract, acai berry extract, and flax seed extract.  You get all this with only 40 calories and no high fructose corn syrup.
After drinking the 12 ounce can I got a very nice pick me up that lasted around 3 hours with no crash at all.
(8.5 out of 10)

Overall Thoughts: With Bing Black, Bing has proven that they are not a "one trick pony".  They took such a unique flavor like blackberry and made it work very well in an energy drink.  The packaging looks fantastic and the kick is pretty solid as well.  If you are looking for a low calorie, low carb drink that will get you moving, I highly recommend giving Bing Black a shot.

Monster Energy Zero Ultra

Many of the big name players in energy drinks have some new flavors on the horizon.  One of the most notable is Monster Energy.  They are coming to the table with 2 new drinks: Monster Energy Zero Ultra and Monster Energy Cuba Lima.  Today I will be taking on Monster Energy Zero Ultra.

The Look:  First off let me say, I seriously love this new can.  The white can stands out very nicely on the shelf and the textured can feels great in your hand.  This is possibly one of the best looking energy drink cans I have had.
You have the usual Monster passage on the back explaining their reasoning behind creating Monster Energy Zero Ultra and the supplement facts beside that.
The only gripe I have about the can is the fact that Monster still hides the caffeine content in their "energy blend".
(9.5 out of 10)

Taste:  Upon opening the can, I got a nice citrus scent that filled the air.  It reminded me of drinking Fresca when I was younger.
The flavor to me is a mix between Sprite Zero and Fresca.  I found the flavor to be very refreshing and quite thirst quenching.  The light carbonation along with the light flavor, have made this one of my new favorite "go to" energy drinks.  I was very happy to see Monster stray away from the traditional energy drink flavor on this one.
(10 out of 10)

Does It Work:  If you have ever had a Monster Energy Drink you know what kind of energy to expect.  Monster Zero Ultra is really no exception.  Each can is powered by 0 calories, several B vitamins, and a dose of a Monster Energy Blend.  After finishing the can I got a nice clean energy boost that lasted the usual 3-4 hours with no crash.
(8 out of 10)

Overall Thoughts:  Monster Energy Zero Ultra is a home run in my opinion.  They have created a great tasting 0 calorie drink with fantastic packaging and a nice kick.  If you are a fan of Monster and/or a fan of citrus drinks this is a must try drink.  Unfortunately, I don't have the same enthusiasm for the new Monster Cuba Lima (review soon).......

Monster Rehab Orangeade

Recently I have had the chance to try Monster Rehab Orangeade on many occasions.  I'm not going to lie, it has even been my go to energy drink of choice lately.  Let's see how the new Monster Rehab scores on the Caffeineaholic.net grading system.

The Look:  One of the reasons I believe Monster is on top of the energy drink category is their packaging and Rehab Orangeade is no different.  The can is done in just 3 colors: black, orange, and white. The color scheme goes together very nicely and creates one of my favorite Monster cans.  The only thing that stops me from giving the can a perfect 10 is that Monster still refuses to list their caffeine content on the can.
(9.5 out of 10)

Taste:  The flavor of the newest Rehab flavor is listed as Orangeade.  The drink has a nice blend of orange with an aftertaste of tea.  The orange and tea compliment each other very nicely.  As with most Monster energy drinks there is no caffeine bitterness or funky aftertaste.
(9.5 out of 10)

Does It Work:  Each 16 oz can of Orangeade is powered by 20 calories, 6 grams of sugar, 4 different B vitamins, 2000 mg of taurine, 400 mg of panax ginseng, and 6400 mg of what they label as the "Rehab Energy Blend".  Just like the other Rehabs, I was filled with a very nice burst of energy about half way through the can.  By the time I finished the entire can, I was wide awake and going about my day with extra energy.  There was no crash at the end and I would put the energy at about the 3 - 3.5 hour mark.
(8.5 out of 10)

Overall Thoughts:  The original Monster Rehab was one of my favorite energy drinks on the market.  Now after trying Orangeade, I actually believe Monster has made the great even better with the addition of Rehab Orangeade.  If you see one of these on the shelf, do yourself a favor and grab one.  As always let me know your thoughts and comments below.

Chocomallows

A while back I was lucky enough to get to review Stay Puft marshmallows.  They were simply amazing: an great tasting marshmallow with a pretty good dose of caffeine.  I didn't think it could get any better until I was lucky enough to get to try out Chocomallows.  They stepped it up and added 100 mg of caffeine inside each marshmallow and gave it a chocolate flavor.  Let's see how they score.
